Look North's Abbie Dewhurst pregnancy question prompts blast over 'intrusive' comments

BBC Look North presenter Abbie Dewhurst has hit back after being asked intrusive questions about her personal life.

Abbie said she is “fed up” with not being able to do her job without people asking her about her personal business after a Twitter user asked her if she was pregnant.

In response to the “ignorant” question, Abbie replied: “Getting quite fed up of not being able to just do my job without questions about my body/life/personal business.”

People have rallied around to show solidarity with Abbie after the tweet with one person saying it’s “absolutely disgraceful” to ask people intrusive questions.

BBC presenter Jen Bartram said: “Abbie! This grinds my gears so much. Solidarity from me.

She continued: “If you’re thinking of tweeting someone about their body or asking them if they’re pregnant or worse when they’re going to get pregnant, just stop. No really. Stop.”

Another person said: “Incredibly rude. What on earth gives people the idea asking stuff like this is ok. It’s mind-boggling”

A third said: “I can’t believe anyone would think it was acceptable to ask such a thing. Ignorant pig!”

A fourth added: “Absolutely disgraceful, the way some folk go on. You have my firm solidarity too.”

Abbey, 20, lives in Otley with her husband and a rescue dog known as Ruby.

She’s originally from Lincolnshire.
