With the start of the new Premier League season just a fortnight away, Mateusz Klich has claimed that he cannot wait for the return of the “unbelievably good” Leeds United fans.
The Whites have been faced with the tough task of an opening-day visit to Old Trafford to face Manchester United, a fixture they were beaten 6-2 in last term.
Speaking to BBC West Yorkshire Sport, Klich was keen to stress how eager he is to play in front of supporters again.
“I remember last time we played there, it wasn’t really a good game but it’s a good game to start,” he said. “It’s the Premier League and there are no easy games.
“The very important part is that the fans are back in the stadium and that’s going to make this game even bigger. I just can’t wait to see Old Trafford filled with fans, especially our fans because our away fans are unbelievably good.”

Klich has already played in front of fans this summer as supporters were present at all three of Poland’s Euro 2020 matches last month but the prospect of Premier League fans is particularly exciting for the 31-year-old.
“At the Euros, it wasn’t full but we had fans in the stadiums which was a bit weird,” Klich said. “I missed the two last games of the [Premier League] season so I haven’t played with the fans in the Premier League yet, I can’t wait.”
When discussing Leeds’ aspirations for the upcoming campaign, the midfielder was eager to highlight that they are keeping their feet on the ground with top-flight survival still very much the main aim.
Klich drew on the previous failings of some of the Whites’ rivals for the reasons as to why they are not getting carried away.
He said: “I don’t want to sit here and say that we need to go Europe or the Champions League because Sheffield United showed us that the second season is very difficult and very important.
“I think we have to make sure that we stay in the Premier League. This is our goal and let’s see what happens like we did last year.”
