Rangiroa, January 29, 2023 – The second edition of the Mokarran va’a race took place on Saturday at Papaputa beach in Rangiroa. It brought together more than twenty rowers and it was Paia Tamaititahio who won the race for the second time in a row. The second edition of the Mokarran va’a race took place on Saturday in Rangiroa. About twenty rowers lined up on the starting line on Papaputa beach. Paia Tamaititahio, already winner of the previous edition, retained his title by winning the race. The young Natio Tupahiroa, who followed him throughout the race, created the surprise by arriving second, followed by Tahiri Tavita in third position. “It was a bit tough this race today, it’s a race at the start of the year, especially with the holidays and everything… it’s not easy! Especially with the young Natio who is in good shape, it was important not to let go. I thank the Lord for this victory which was not easy”, confided Paia Tamaititahio at the end of the race.
